This class explores curved piecing in a rectangular or square block. Learn how to boldly cut curves with a rotary cutter, but without a ruler or cutting line! Stack four(4) rectangles of different colored fabrics, cut through all of them, shuffle the layers and sew together four different blocks from each stack. This is a process class and once you learn the process, the world of curved pieced quilts is yours to explore. This is a three hour intermediate level class.
Fabrics:
1/4 yard (fat quarter or off the bolt) of 4 different fabrics that go together, but have contrast between them. Make sure that your fabrics include dark, medium and light values. At least one of your fabrics should be a solid color. Avoid large scale prints, stripes and plaids. Small or medium prints, polka dots work well for this project. If you have trouble choosing fabrics, bring more than four fabrics, and you may choose them in class.
Tools:
Rotary cutter with a sharp or new blade: larger ones work better ( 45 mm or 60 mm)
Square Rotary Cutting Ruler (8", 12" or 12" are helpful)
Self Healing Cutting Mat
Sewing Machine
Basic Sewing Supplies like small scissors, pins, thread etc.
