Farm Animals Applique with Nancy Brown 4/5

APPLIQUE with Nancy S. Brown

Five Sundays, January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, and May 20th

12:30-2:30 pm

Come learn about hand applique while working on a small wallhanging of adorable farm animals.  We will work on one block or more a month and you will also learn how to make a pieced border.  Teacher will demonstrate how to make a pattern from a photo so that you may add more animals to your wallhanging or make an individual project.

Fabric Scissors (Any sharp scissors with a pointed tip. I like the 5" embroidery scissors)
Paper Scissors
Freezer Paper

Straight Pins
Pencil sharpener (for marking pencils)

Needles: no. 10 or 11 Sharps (I like the English Brands like Richard Hemming)

Thread to match fabric (I use Superior Thread's Bottom Line Polyester but 50 0r 60 weight cottons or silks are also good)

Marking pencils:

For dark fabrics: Quilter's Rule or Roxanne's white or your choice

For light fabrics: Blue chalk of Blue Washout or your choice

Fabric (I prefer to prewash fabrics to prevent bleeding and remove sizing). I  like prints because they add texture and dimension to the animals. They don't have to look like fur or feathers-any print will add texture . The blocks are only 8" square so you don't need large amounts of the various colors.

You can wait to buy background fabrics and fabrics for the rest of the wallhanging until after we talk about fabric choices in the first class.
