1 Saturday October 22      10:00 am - 4:00 pm      Levels 1+,2,3     $95

This is a class about making an exuberant, colorful quilt that teaches color value and scale in the design of a quilt.

It encourages the student to be fearless about color choices and about sewing curves.

Freddy has a method to make both aspects(color choice and sewing curves) stress free and the results are fabulous!  Not to mention - that spending the day with Freddy is always an unforgettable and totally valuable experience.

SUPPLY LIST

All the usual sewing supplies, including a sewing machine, cutting mat and rotary cutter.

Irons and design walls are provided.

You will need dot fabrics in light, medium and dark values.

A dot need not be round. It is a a good design factor to vary the scale of the dot. Try not to sew all the same scale of dots through out the block.

Fat Quarters are ideal. A total of about 5 yards will make a good size quilt.

The basic block consists of 3 shapes: bow tie, pie and curve.

You must decide on the placement of color value before you sew. For example, if you decide that you want the bow tie in a dark value, keep it consistent throughout. The same rule applies to the other shapes. If you decide to have one or more shapes in a light shade, keep it consistent throughout. Freddy usually makes the bow tie in the darkest or medium color, as light dots are hard to find.

There will be a set of 3 templates available in class for $30 a set. Or, you can bring or buy template plastic.

New Pieces has a huge selection of dots in all colors, as well as stars, lady bugs, flowers, and circles that you can use in your quilt.
